Displayed is the rare Comme des Garcons Homme Plus "Pink Panther" sweatpants from the SS05 collection, featuring Pink Panther iconography on the front. The sweats feature center pleats across the front of both legs, similar to Needles track pants. The pants are very versatile and easy to wear, featuring an elastic waistband which accommodates any waist size, a drawstring, two zippered pockets, and adjustable zippers at the cuffs. The pants are constructed from 91% polyester and 9% cotton and are of very high quality.
The SS05 Homme Plus show was not only a commemoration of the 40th anniversary of "Pink Panther", but also a quite literal interpretation of a world seen through rose-colored glasses ("Rose-tinted spectacles..." commented Kawakubo backstage at the show. The models, of course, also wore pink glasses). The show featured men stomping down the runway to Peter Sellers' movie soundtrack in groovy garments with '60s patterns reminiscent of Verner Panton; unmistakably, the clothes were almost always pink--no, not millennial pink, but hot, hot pink.
Though some pink garments from this season have received polarizing opinions, all pieces with Pink Panther iconography from this season have grown to become very desirable for fans of CDG.
